What is pressure? mention the formula and the unit (SI and US)
Amount of perpendicular force applied on a unit area of a substance or on a surface pressure = force / area N/m2 or Pascal (Pa) psi lb/in2
1 bar = 10^5 Pa = 0.1 MPa = 100 KPa
The pressure and density decrease with increasing height in the atmosphere
The actual pressure at a given position. It is measured relative to absolute vacuum (i.e. absolute zero pressure)
Absolute pressure
The difference between the absolute pressure and the local atmospheric pressure.
Gauge pressure
Most pressure-measuring devices are calibrated to read zero in the atmosphere, and so they indicate gauge pressure
Pressures below atmospheric pressure
Vacuum pressures
A) 101325 B) 101.325 C) 1.01325
14.696
Reminder: If local atmospheric pressure was not given, use the default value 101.325 kPa or 14.696 psi
Piezometer
Open End U-tube Monometer (for gases)
Differential U-tube Monometer (for gases)
Inclined Monometer (for low pressure gases)
Bourdon Tube Gage
Barometer
Pressure Transducer
