   1945 to 1990

2. What was the Cold War?

   When the USA and the USSR were enemies due to differing ideologies. US (Capitalist) USSR (Communist)

3. Define The Grand Alliance

   Military Alliance Between the US, Britain and the USSR formed to defeat Hitler

4. Why did the Grand Alliance break apart?

   Different ideologies and disputes about what to do with Germany. The US also used new nuclear technology to end the war with Japan.

5. What were the two differing ideologies?

   USSR (East) - Communism: The government controlled all aspects of the economy. USA (West) - Capitalism: Free elections and free economy with private businesses not centralised by government
