This seismic wave only travels through solids
S-Waves (Secondary)
The fastest seismic wave.
P-Waves (Primary)
The most devastating seismic wave
Surface waves
The Continental Drift theory proposes that the continents are drifting away from each other, and they were once one big continent.
The Plate Tectonics Theory proposes that the earth’s crust is made of different rigid slabs of rock, and these slabs of rock are called tectonic plates.
How far do tectonic plates move in a year?
About 4 cm.
To find the epicenter of an earthquake, you need to: Get data for the p and S waves put that data on a chart that tells you how far away you are from the epicenter make a radius around your seismograph according to how far you are from the epicenter get 2 other scientists to do the same the place where the 3 radiuses meet is where the epicenter of the earthquake is.
What is an epicenter?
The point on the Earth’s surface directly above the earthquake’s focus
What is a focus?
The center of an earthquake in the ground.
What plate does Taiwan belong to?
The Eurasian plate.
