Diffuse Alveolar Damage (DAD) Hyaline membranes.
Diffuse Alveolar Damage (DAD) - Worse. Hyaline membranes.
Asbestos bodies
Honeycombing. Usual Interstitial Pneumonia (UIP)
Usual Interstitial Pneumonia (UIP).
Usual Interstitial Pneumonia - UIP
Nonspecific Interstitial Pneumonia (NSIP) Middle age, especially women. Chronic dyspnea & cough. Better prognosis than UIP. Associated with connective tissue disease.
Desquamative Interstitial Pneumonia (DIP) Respond well to steroids. Macrophages in alveoli LITTLE fibrosis.
Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia (COP) Weeks to months duration Cough & SOB. Responds well to steroids.
What can Goodpasture's Syndrome cause in lungs?
Pulmonary Hemorrhage Syndrome
Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis (PAP) Deficiency of GM-CSF, macrophages can't eliminate used up surfactant. Granular liporotein accumulates alveoli. Treat w/ therapeutic lavage.
*Airspace disease filled with blood, pus, cells, or fluid. Bronchi more visible on air bronchogram
ARDS Diffuse airspace disease more prominent at bases.
ARDS on CT Ground-glass opacities.
Interstitial Lung Disease with Fibrosis (IPF/UIP) Architectural distortion - Honeycombing:
Nonspecific Interstitial Pneumonia (NSIP).
Sarcoidosis - Adenopathy
Sarcoidosis - Calcified and Noncalcified Mediastinal Adenopathy
Sarcoidosis - Numerous nodules related to the pleura, fissures, and peribronchovascular interstitium.
Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis - Ground glass opacification corresponds to alveolitits.
Cryptogenic Organizing: Peribronchovascular consolidation, irregular in shape.
Pulmonary ALveolar Proteinosis Ground glass with septal thickening. GM-CSF deficiency.
Pneumoconiosis - Silicosis Upper lobes Macrophages respond to silica-> inflammation-> fibroblast-> collagen. High prevelance of TB & bronchiogenic carcinoma.
