  1. What is TELNET?

A terminal emulation protocol used on the Internet and TCP/IP-based networks. A Telnet program allows a user at a terminal or PC to log in to a remote computer and run a program and execute other Unix commands. Originally developed for ARPAnet, Telnet is a common utility in the TCP/IP protocol suite, but it is not secure and transfers commands in the clear. Secure shell (SSH) provides an encrypted alternative that is widely used.

  14. What is ACPI?

(Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) A power management specification developed by Intel, Toshiba and Microsoft that makes hardware status information available to the operating system. ACPI enables a PC to turn its peripherals on and off for improved power management, especially in portables. It also allows the PC to be turned on and off by external devices, so that the touch of a mouse or the press of a key will "wake up" the machine. ACPI combines the earlier Advanced Power Managemen…

  15. What is ACPI level s0?

ACPI is on but no one is using it

  16. What is ACPI level s1?

(Standby): The S1 sleeping state is a low wake latency sleeping state. In this state, no system context is lost (CPU or chip set) and hardware maintains all system contexts.

  17. What is ACPI level s2?

    Not supported?

  18. What is ACPI level s3?

ACPI is in sleep mode (Suspend to Ram)

  19. What is ACPI level s4?

ACPI is in hibernation mode (Suspend to Disk)
