What is IACRA?
Integrated Airman Certification and/or Rating Application (IACRA) is a web-based certification/rating application that guides the user through the FAA's airman application process. IACRA helps applicants meet regulatory and policy requirements through the use of extensive data validation. It also uses digital signatures to protect the information's integrity, eliminates paper forms, and prints temporary certificates.
What is considered "training" time and how should this be logged?
A person may log training time when that person receives training from an authorized instructor in an aircraft, flight simulator, or flight training device. The training time must be logged in a logbook and must be endorsed in a legible manner by an authorized instructor; it must include a description of the training given, the length of the training lesson, the authorized instructor's signature, certificate number and certificate expiration date.
For instructional flights where both an authorized instructor and a certificated private pilot on board, which person is allowed to log pilot-in-command time? 14 CFR 61.51
Both the private pilot and CFI will be able to log PIC time. Provided the private pilot is the sole manipulator of the controls of an aircraft for which the pilot is rated, that pilot may log the time as PIC.
