cell cycle
the life cycle of a cell >> has two parts: interphase and m-phase
mitosis
interphase
the first and largest part of the cell cycle >> contains G1, S, and G2 >> the prep work for cell devision > no cell division NOTE: G0 means that the cell is put on pause (no divide)
m-phase
the second and smallest part of the cell >> has two stages
G1
the first stage in interphase; the cell grows
S
the second stage in interphase; the DNA duplicates > synthesis
G2
the third stage in interphase; the cell grows
Prophase
the first part of m-phase
Metaphase
the second part of m-phase, "middle"
Anaphase
the third part of m-phase, "apart"
Telophase
the fourth part of m-phase, can happen at the same of cytokinesis >> nuclear membrane begins to form >> cells begins to separate >> chromatids move to opposite ends of the cell >> two new nuclei forms
Cytokinesis
Chromatin
Chromosome
Spindle Fibers
Centrioles
Nucleus
the "brain" of the cell that controls the activity of the cell; holds DNA
Chromatid
interphase, two sister/pairs of chromatids creates a chromosome
Somatic Cell
