  1. What is a defect?

Defects are defined as the deviation of the actual and expected result of system or software application.

  2. What are the Four classes of defect?

Requirements and specifications defects, Design defects, Code defects, Testing defects

  3. List few examples for Requirements and Specifications Defects

Functional Description Defects Feature Defects Feature Interaction Defects Interface Description Defects

  4. What is State-based testing?

State model shows what transitions occur and what actions are performed. Often state model is built from the specifications or requirements. The key challenge is to identify states from the specs/requirements which capture the key properties but is small enough for modeling.

  5. List the four states in state-based testing.

    Locked, Unlocked, Accepting, Blocked

  6. What are the conditions to be followed during state-based testing?

Cover all identified states at least once (each state is part of at least one test case) Cover all valid transitions at least once Trigger all invalid transitions at least once

  7. What is cause-effect graphing?

The Cause and Effect Graph is a dynamic test case writing technique. Here causes are the input conditions and effects are the results of those input conditions.

  8. What are the notations used in cause-effect graphing?

    AND, OR, NOT, MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE
