  1. What are the two basic strategies of testing?

Black Box Technique White Box Technique

  2. What is black box testing?

Black Box Testing is a software testing method in which the functionalities of software applications are tested without having knowledge of internal code structure, implementation details and internal paths.

  3. What is white box testing?

White box testing techniques analyze the internal structures the used data structures, internal design, code structure and the working of the software rather than just the functionality as in black box testing.

  4. List the types of black box testing.

Functional Testing Non-Functional Testing Regression Testing

  5. List few White Box Techniques.

Statement Coverage Decision Coverage Branch Coverage Condition Coverage Path Coverage Control Flow Testing Data Flow Testing

  6. What is requirement based Testing?

Requirements-based testing is a testing approach in which test cases, conditions and data are derived from requirements.

  7. What are the stages in requirement based testing?

Defining Test Completion Criteria Design Test Cases Execute Tests Verify Test Results Verify Test Coverage Track and Manage Defects

  8. List the methods through which requirement based testing can be done.

    Boundary Value Analysis Equivalence Partitioning

  9. What is boundary value analysis/testing?

Boundary testing is the process of testing between extreme ends or boundaries between partitions of the input values. So these extreme ends like Start- End, Lower- Upper, Maximum-Minimum, Just Inside-Just Outside values are called boundary values and the testing is called “boundary testing”.

  10. What is equivalence partitioning?

Equivalence Partitioning or Equivalence Class Partitioning is type of black box testing technique which can be applied to all levels of software testing like unit, integration, system, etc. In this technique, input data units are divided into equivalent partitions that can be used to derive test cases which reduces time required for testing because of small number of test cases.

  11. List the states used in the State-based testing technique.

    Locked, Unlocked, Accepting, Blocked

  12. What are valid transitions in state-based testing?

    Locked->Unlocked, Locked->Accepting, Accepting->Accepting, Accepting->Unlocked, Accepting->Blocked

  13. What is cause-effect graphing?

The Cause and Effect Graph is a dynamic test case writing technique. Here causes are the input conditions and effects are the results of those input conditions. Cause-Effect Graph is a technique that starts with a set of requirements and determines the minimum possible test cases for maximum test coverage which reduces test execution time and cost.

  14. What are the notations used in the cause-effect graphing?

    AND, OR, NOT, Mutually Exclusive

  15. What is Compatibility Testing?

Checking the functionality of an application on different software, hardware platforms, network, and browsers is known as compatibility testing.

  16. List the types of compatibility Testing.

    Software Hardware Network Mobile

  17. What are the frequently occurring UI problems?

Alignment issue Overlap issue Scattered issue Look and feel issue

  18. Name few compatibility testing tools.

    LambdaTest BrowserStack BrowseEMAll TestingBot

  19. What is test adequacy criteria?

A test adequacy criterion is a predicate that is true (satisfied) or false (not satisfied) of a 〈program, test suite〉 pair. Usually a test adequacy criterion is expressed in the form of a rule for deriving a set of test obligations from another artifact, such as a program or specification.

  20. List the categories of test adequate criteria.

Source of information to specify testing requirements Specification based Program based Combined Interface based Underlying testing approach Structural Fault based Error based

  21. What is Static Testing?

Static testing- Testing by human before the code is compiled and executed- so it is process oriented process or prevention oriented or quality oriented.

  22. List the Static Testing Types.

    1. Desk checking 2. Code Walkthrough 3. Code review 4. Code inspection

  23. What is Desk Checking?

Done manually by author of the code Verification of the code is done for its correctness Verification by comparing the code with specification Process over before the compilation and execution of the code

  24. What is functional testing?

FUNCTIONAL TESTING is a type of software testing that validates the software system against the functional requirements/specifications. The purpose of Functional tests is to test each function of the software application, by providing appropriate input, verifying the output against the Functional requirements.

  25. What are the steps in functional testing process?

Identify test input. Compute the expected outcome with the selected input values. Execute test cases Comparison between the actual and the computed result.

  26. What are the features to test in functional testing?

Basic Usability Accessibility Mainline Function Error Condition
