What is the null hypothesis?
H0\text{H}_0H0 , the hypothesis you assume to be correct.
What is the alternative hypothesis?
H1\text{H}_1H1 , the outcome that is true if the null hypothesis is incorrect.
What is a one-tailed test?
Hypothesis tests that are defined as less than or greater than H0\text{H}_0H0 , in the form H1:p<...\text{H}_1 : p < ...H1:p<... or ..."> H1:p>...\text{H}_1 : p > ...H1:p>...
What is a two-tailed test?
Hypothesis tests that can be either less than or greater than H0\text{H}_0H0 , in the form H1:p≠...\text{H}_1 : p \neq ...H1:p=...
What is a critical region?
The region in which if the value falls, you would reject the null hypothesis.
What is a critical value?
The first value to fall inside the critical region that causes you to reject the null hypothesis.
What is the actual significance of a hypothesis test?
The probability of incorrectly rejecting the null hypothesis.
How many critical regions does a two tailed test have?
Two critical regions, one at either side, which means that the significance needs to be halved for each side.
