What is an organism?
A Living thing that is made of 2 or more cells
What is a Tissue?
A Cluster of Cells working for the same function
What is an Organ?
A Collection of Tissues working for the same function
What is a System
A Collection of Organs Working together
The Fruits in a plant is to develop and disperse seeds
The Vascular Tissues are tissues that transport water and nutrients around the plant
The Leaves are the site of photosynthesis in a plant
The Dermal Tissues that form the outer linings of the plant
The Ground Tissues is the collective term of organs that provide support and metabolism for the plant
The Roots of the plant is to absorb water and nutrients from the soil
The Stems of the plant is to provide support and connects the whole plant
The flowers of the plant is the reproductive organ and forms fruit once fertilised
What is the root system
The system that contains the roots of the plant
What is the Shoot System
The system that contains the leaves, the stems and the fruits and the flowers
List the four types of Animal Tissues
Muscle Tissue, Epithelial Tissue, Nervous Tissue, Connective Tissue
What are the 3 types of Muscle Tissues?
Skeletal, Cardiac and Smooth
The Epithelial Tissue is to protect the interior parts from any external hazards. It also forms blood vessels and the outer layers of the organs.
The Muscle Tissues are to contract and provide force for the organism
Connective Tissue are to connect and support the various organs and tissues of the organism
The Nervous Tissues are to transmit electric charges and to stimulate other organs and tissues
Glands are structures that makes and secretes hormones
Target Cells are Cells that are specified by one Hormone
Hormones alter a cell's activity by increasing or decreasing a function
Insulin decreases blood sugar and allows the skeleton to absorb the glucose
Glucagon are Hormones that are able to be converted into Glucose
Nephrons are a set of tubes in the kidneys that support the filtration of the blood into urine.
